On behalf of the Rapid Prototyping & Manufacturing Institute at Georgia Tech, we would like to invite you to attend our Open House members meeting. We hold quarterly meetings with our industrial partners, but only rarely open them to large numbers of non-member companies. The purpose of this Open House is to introduce a new set of carefully selected companies to the RPMI and to attract them to become members. Guests will have opportunities to interact with current RPMI members and with Georgia Tech faculty and students, in both group and one-on-one settings. The RPMI is an industry-leading research organization devoted to adding value to a company’s prototyping, product development, and rapid manufacturing activities, as well as educating students to prepare them for careers in industry.

At our quarterly meetings, we provide updates on research projects, solicit feedback on projects, solicit input on new directions, and conduct other RPMI business. At this Open House, we will provide an overview of our organization and activities, emerging research directions, updates on some research projects, and an opportunity to assess the fit between your organization and the RPMI. Please see the Open House agenda below for further information.

At present, our research efforts are focused in three directions:

• Large, light-weight structures
• Micro Devices –small devices in stereolithography and in LCVD (laser chemical vapor deposition). Packages for MEMS devices, particularly for fluid processing, are one focus area.
• Rapid Tooling for injection molding

Additionally, we have on-going activities in metrology and inspection, RPM (Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing) in product realization, design and CAD tools for RPM, and high speed machining for RP and RT (Rapid Tooling). The enclosed brochures contain additional information.

The Open House is scheduled for Thursday, February 8, 2001 on the campus of Georgia Tech. Additionally, we will have a reception on Wednesday evening, February 7, as an informal way for the invitees to get to know our industry members, each other, and us.
