RAPID PROTOTYPING AND MANUFACTURING:
Making the New Technologies Payoff for You

The 5th Annual Eugene C. Gwaltney Manufacturing Symposium

October 7-8, 1998

Your Audience: We expect a total of 110 people to attend. They will be manufacturers from across the US and largely from the Southeast who are coming to learn more about Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing. This is not an academic conference. We will focus on applications of technologies to current needs in industry; in fact, most of the speakers are from industry. Our mission is education. We know that many companies are just now hearing about the power of RP&M technologies. Others who have experience with RP&M are looking for new ways to benefit. We aim to assist both groups by furthering the deployment of these technologies.

Audio-Visual Capabilities: We will try to accommodate any request. The auditorium is equipped with a large video projector for computer images, VHS tapes, or opaque photos. We will also have conventional overhead projectors and a 35mm slide projector. You'll be equipped with a walk-around microphone. If you need something else, just ask.

The Format: The tentative agenda gives an estimate for your time slot. Please let me know if this seems appropriate for your talk. Please reserve one half to one third of your total time for Q&A and discussion. We want to encourage audience interaction as much as possible. Topics and speakers were chosen primarily because we thought they would generate interest and enthusiasm that would be demonstrated in aggressive Q&A sessions.

Fees for Speakers: Speakers are invited to attend the symposium and exhibition at no charge. The reception, two lunches and two continental breakfasts are also free, compliments of Georgia Tech and the Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing Institute.

What We Need from Speakers: By September 11 we need 1) the title of your presentation, 2) an abstract, and 3) your biosketch, and 4) an original black and white copy of all of your presentation materials (e.g., overheads, foils, slides, etc.), and/or an outline of your presentation (or a paper, article, report—something) to help attendees follow and take notes during your talks, and 5) a description of your AV requirements. Use this mailing address:

NOTE: All of the material we need from speakers except your presentation material may be faxed (404-894-4133) to us; however, it is important that we receive your presentation original copy in a true black and white format in order to reproduce it as accurately as possible. It is frustrating to your audience for your presentation to be incomplete or unreadable—because of fuzzy reproductions or print so small that it is impossible to read. To that end, we request that you reproduce your slides no more than two to a page. (Or, you may email or send your presentation on disk in a PowerPoint or Word format for printing here.) Remember, the September 11 deadline is firm! If you foresee a problem meeting this deadline, please let us know as soon as possible.
